Adding Your First Product

Ready to start selling? This guide walks you through creating your first product on Artbase Studio.

Before You Start

Prepare the following:

  • Product images (at least 1 high-quality image)
  • Product title and description
  • Pricing information
  • Inventory count (for physical items)

Creating a Product

Step 1: Navigate to Products

In the Creator Hub:

  1. Tap Products in the navigation
  2. Tap the + button or Add Product

Step 2: Basic Information

Product Name Enter a clear, descriptive title.

Good examples:

  • "Mountain Sunrise - Original Acrylic Painting"
  • "Botanical Print Set - 3 Piece Collection"
  • "Digital Brush Pack - Watercolor Edition"

Description Write a compelling description that includes:

  • What makes this piece special
  • Materials or techniques used
  • Dimensions or specifications
  • Care instructions (if applicable)
Writing Great Descriptions
  • Lead with the most important information
  • Use sensory language
  • Tell the story behind the piece
  • Include relevant keywords for search

Step 3: Select Product Type

Choose the type that best describes your product:

Step 4: Set Pricing

Price Enter your selling price in your local currency.

Tips for pricing:

  • Research comparable artists
  • Factor in materials, time, and overhead
  • Consider platform fees
  • Don't undervalue your work

Compare at Price (optional) Show a crossed-out "original" price to indicate a sale.

Step 5: Add Images

Upload product images:

  • Primary image: Main photo shown in listings
  • Additional images: Gallery for product page

Image requirements:

  • Minimum 800x800 pixels (1200x1200+ recommended)
  • Square or 4:3 aspect ratio works best
  • JPG, PNG, or WebP format
  • Maximum 10MB per image

Photography tips:

  • Use natural lighting
  • Show the actual colors accurately
  • Include scale reference when helpful
  • Show details and textures
  • Include lifestyle shots

Step 6: Inventory Settings

For physical products:

Stock Quantity Enter the number of items available.

Unlimited Stock Toggle on for items you can always produce/reprint.

Track Inventory When enabled:

  • Stock decrements automatically on sale
  • Low stock warnings appear
  • Sold out items are marked accordingly

Step 7: Additional Options

Featured Product Toggle on to highlight on your storefront homepage.

Active/Inactive Set to inactive to hide from your storefront while keeping the listing.

SKU (optional) Your internal stock keeping unit code.

Step 8: Save and Publish

  1. Review all information
  2. Click Save to save as draft
  3. Click Publish to make live on your storefront

Adding Variants

For products with multiple options (sizes, formats):

  1. Open the product
  2. Scroll to Variants
  3. Click Add Variant
  4. Enter variant details:
    • Name (e.g., "8x10 Print")
    • Price
    • SKU (optional)
    • Inventory

Example variant setup for a print:

Digital Products

For digital products (downloads):

  1. Set product type to Digital
  2. Upload the downloadable file(s)
  3. Set inventory to Unlimited

Supported file types:

  • Images: JPG, PNG, TIFF, PSD
  • Documents: PDF
  • Archives: ZIP

After purchase, customers receive automatic download links.

Product Preview

Before publishing, preview how your product appears:

  1. Click Preview
  2. Check the product page layout
  3. Verify images load correctly
  4. Confirm pricing and description
  5. Test on mobile view

After Publishing

Once published, your product:

  • Appears on your storefront
  • Is searchable on your store
  • Can be featured on your homepage
  • Can be shared on social media

Common Questions

Can I edit a product after publishing?

Yes! Edit anytime from the Products screen. Changes are immediate.

How do I temporarily hide a product?

Set the product to Inactive. It won't appear on your storefront but the listing is preserved.

Can I duplicate a product?

Yes, use the Duplicate action to create a copy with the same details.

What happens when an item sells out?

The product shows as "Sold Out" on your storefront. Customers can't add it to cart.
